Each of us from time to time buys flowers, interesting bouquets and compositions. However, unscrupulous florists, wanting to earn more money, use flowers already withering for bouquets, using various tricks unknown to the buyer.
10. Bouquet with sparkles
Believe me, flowers are sprinkled with sequins for a reason. As a rule, sellers in this way mask beginners to fade flowers. Very often, roses are disguised as such. The fact is that the edges of their petals quickly begin to fade, and the goods must be sold so as not to remain in the red. That is why unscrupulous sellers resort to such a trick: they sprinkle flowers with sparkles so that buyers do not see defects in roses. If you like the sparkles on the flowers, it is better to choose the fresh flowers yourself in the store and ask them to sprinkle them with sparkles, you will definitely not be refused, and the bouquet you bought will last much longer.
9. Tinted flowers
To sell stale goods, many sellers do not hesitate to paint their flowers in unusual colors, thus wanting to lure the buyer. It is worth knowing that not all artificially tinted flowers quickly fade. The fact is that there are two ways to color a flower: the more humane one is the “soldering” method, when a flower absorbs water with a dye and changes its color; paint spraying method - if you see a flower on whose petals paint was sprayed, it can be said with accuracy that it will not stand longer than a couple of days. Skilled sellers resort to such manipulation in order to hide beginners to wither the flower petals.
8. A lot of packaging film
The buyer should not forget that the most important thing in the bouquet is the flowers. In order to hide the flaws of the flowers, their withering state, many florists wrap the bouquet in beautiful foil, make expensive packaging for the bouquet, which customers “peck”. Beautiful packaging is good, but you pay money for the flowers, not for the paper in which they are wrapped (as a rule, such paper costs a penny).
7. Masking elements in a bouquet
If you see a bouquet in the window, full of abundance of jewelry, such as butterflies, ladybugs, bows, and so on - this is a serious reason to think about the quality of flowers in the composition. An experienced florist will never additionally decorate beautiful and healthy flowers that will still stand in a bouquet for a long time. Only fading flowers, whose quality leaves much to be desired, need additional attributes. If you like bouquets with additional details, then it is better to buy flowers separately and ask them to be decorated “as needed”.
6. Glamelia
To begin with, such a technique actually exists and is owned by experienced florists. It consists in the fact that one incredible flower is made up of petals of different colors. Glamelia is popular in the West, however, in Russia this technique is most often used in order to profitably sell the waste of fading flowers - their petals. Individual petals adhere to the glue and form a flower. The minus of this composition is one, but very significant - such a flower does not stand longer than a couple of days.
5. Mesh with cilia
Many florists resort to tricks: they support a fading bud using a mesh with cilia. The composition of wilted buds seems to come to life again, but, unfortunately, such a trick gives only a short-term effect. Arriving home, the happy owner of the bouquet just bought understands that he spent the money on a fiction, which consists of waste flowers and is essentially worth nothing. Thus, florists manage to get rid of the petals of fading flowers with profit and profit.
4. Buds of already blossoming roses
A very common phenomenon that can be found in any flower shop is the manufacture of roses, already budding and beginning to fade. The fact is that many unscrupulous sellers remove the upper petals from a fading lush flower. The result is a small bud that looks like a newly formed young flower. Such "artificially" created buds are very easy to confuse with young rose buds. A buyer who bought flowers with "artificial" buds will not be able to enjoy their beauty for a long time. The very next day, the bud risks completely falling apart.
3. Flower scrap
The term "scrap" in floristry refers to broken flower heads. Very often during transportation, flowers are damaged, of course, it is unlikely that anyone will buy flower heads separately. Therefore, sellers make a composition out of broken flower heads. For example, such broken flowers are suitable for a small basket. It happens that several flowers on a twig continue to hold, while most of the flowers on it have already withered. Well-looking flowers are cut from a fading twig by a florist and stuck in a soft sponge for a basket. This manipulation allows you to give a second life to flowers that have begun to fade. Of course, baskets of such flowers will not last long.
2. The flower arrangement is fully packed in film
When bouquets fully wrapped in film flaunt on a flower shop window, the buyer should think about the quality of the flowers. Believe me, experienced florists for a reason pack the composition in film, especially if there are additional patterns or patterns on the film. Of course, this is how the composition looks attractive, but it is difficult to notice wilted flowers in such a flower garden. As a rule, flowers close to wilting are packed in this way. Through the film it is almost impossible to see the contents of the bouquets and consider it carefully, in all details.
1. Replacing the oasis for the bouquet with cheaper materials
Florists often deal with the so-called "oasis" - a sponge for flowers, with which you can create many interesting compositions. However, crafty artisans decide to replace a quality oasis with low-grade polystyrene foam, sponge or even sand. It is clear that in such material, primarily flowers suffer. They can not stand a long time in a poor-quality sponge. As a result, upon arriving home, the buyer sees drying flowers bought for a lot of money. Of course, such a quality can not satisfy the owner of the bouquet.
