Unlike the manual way of washing dishes, the dishwasher allows you to more accurately select and then maintain the temperature of the washing environment. In general, washing dishes takes less time from the hostess.
Why not take advantage of these benefits to clean more than dishes? Let's see what unconventional applications you can find in a dishwasher.
10. Shelves from the refrigerator
Plastic containers and glass shelves in the refrigerator are contaminated with food in just a week. At the same time, dirt on transparent shelves is not only unhygienic, but also spoils the view.
It is quite difficult to get to all the corners of plastic containers with your hands. And you’re afraid of breaking glass shelves in the sink. We load them into the nets of the dishwasher and turn on the gentle mode, from 35 to 45 ° С - this will protect the glass from cracking.
Of course, before you put the drawers and shelves from the refrigerator into the dishwasher, you need to let these parts warm up to room temperature.
9. Kitchen sponges and washcloths
They are literally a hotbed of all sorts of microorganisms. It’s quite troublesome to clean the sponges with your hands, and washing in moderately warm water is ineffective.
In the dishwasher, you can set the temperature of the washing liquid higher. Hands would not have endured such boiling water, but bath sponges with sponges from 60 to 90 degrees will only benefit.
Items should be stacked so that small items do not float into the drain. Using "steaming" is undesirable. Modern sponges are made of synthetics, and hot steam can make them unusable.
8. Shoes
Slippers "flip flops" are more convenient to put on the top shelf. This will allow sand and dirt to quickly wash off directly under the pressure of water.
Together with the “flip flops”, rubber boots can also be put in the larger compartment of the dishwasher. It is advisable only to pre-rinse them in order to "fight off" the largest lumps of dirt.
Shoes made from natural materials - leather and suede - are better not to wash in the machine. Even decorative wooden inserts can crack, rendering shoes unusable.
7. Figurines
It can be very difficult to carefully clean the numerous hollows and curls of decorative figurines made of stone, metal or plastic. Strong jets of water in the dishwasher penetrate all the nooks and crannies of objects of the most complex shape.
Washing metal figurines in a dishwasher allows you to better save thin layers of oxides on their surface. Unlike manual cleaning with brushes and brushes, water jets do not erase the patina from the metal surface. The figurines cleaned in the dishwasher retain their original appearance longer.
6. Elastic bands for hair and jewelry
Small jewelry, like figurines, literally consists of inaccessible holes, hollows and rods. But it’s not at all clear how to pick up the gum, to wash it well.
We put all the small things in a mesh bag so that they do not scatter along the washing chamber and float into the sewer. We select the average temperature regime (from 45 to 70 degrees Celsius). Drying is better not in the machine itself, but in the air.
5. Grill
That the most dirty pans are perfectly cleaned in the dishwasher, any housewife quickly makes sure. But in the kitchen there are the same “scary" objects, although they are not considered dishes.
Grilles; baking sheets; decorative grilles of ventilation systems ... All this can be wonderful cleaned in the dishwasher. Moreover, grill grates are usually very dirty - but they are not afraid of boiling water or hot steam. It’s not easy to wash them with your hands, but the dishwasher can do it.
4. Hairbrushes and makeup brushes
In order not to clog the sewage system, first remove the remaining hair from combs and brushes. Small and thin objects are best placed in the dining room compartment or packed in a mesh bag.
The bristles and plastics used in hairdressing tools do not tolerate high temperatures very well. Optimum will be the temperature of the washing liquid from 45 to 70 degrees. Detergents are suitable for almost any.
Drying makeup brushes and comb is better in the air. Wooden combs and brushes made of natural hair are still better to clean and wash by hand.
3. Children's toys
It is very convenient to wash both plastic and soft fabric toys in the dishwasher, and not in the washing machine. To prevent small toys or constructor parts from scattering around the typewriter and getting lost in the sewers, it is best to wash them by placing them in a tied mesh for washing small items.
Water jets from all sides will clean the dirt from the most inaccessible corners of the toys. At the same time, soft toys will not lose their shape.
The plastic of children's toys is durable and easily withstands all modes of washing dishes. But to be sure, it's better to use gentle modes.
2. Caps
An attempt to wash a hat in an ordinary washing machine ends in complete disappointment. Mercilessly scrolled in the drum, the cap completely loses its shape and appearance.
In a dishwasher, jets of water neatly wash stationary objects from different directions. This allows you to successfully "wash" hats.
Place hats, caps and baseball caps in the dishwasher on the upper shelf and turn on the delicate washing mode. It is better to dry them separately, in the air. Hats when drying should be worn on a "blockhead", which can be used as a rubber ball or a large glass jar.
1. Fruits and vegetables
In the dishwasher, you can successfully wash fruits and vegetables. The main thing is to choose a mode with not too high temperature and not to lay detergent at all. Then our vegetables or fruits will not boil and will not spoil the taste. By the way, the peel from vegetables after such washing is removed much easier.
Pre-rinse the vegetables and arrange them in wire racks in one layer. Set a moderate temperature - from 30 to 40 degrees is enough. The regime should be set to "washing with subsequent rinsing with cold water."
